How To Keep Yourself Accountable With A Checklist
Assigning members and due dates to checklist items is now even easier. When creating a checklist item, quickly add members and due dates that will then appear in your Calendar view, as well as in the Your Items tab on your Trello Home screen.
One of the most important benefits of this new view is self-accountability. When you’re sifting through big projects with lots of people remotely, small tasks can slip through the cracks.
Advanced Checklists are also a handy tool for team meetings. As items are discussed, managers can add checklist items, assign teammates and due dates, and then everyone can leave the meeting with a clear understanding of who is tackling what.
Bonus: if the checklist item gets unruly and starts taking on subtasks, it’s easy to convert the checklist item into a card. The assigned member and due date information carry through to the new card.

Checklist Items On Your Calendar
With Advanced Checklists, you can now view checklist items with due dates in Calendar view. There is a stylistic differentiation between checklists and cards, so you know which is which:

View Your Items In One Place
You can view all of the checklist items assigned to you in a new view called “Your Items.” Once signed into Trello, click the house icon in the top left corner then go to the Home tab in the left-hand navigation, and you will be taken to Your Items. You will then see all of the checklist items assigned to you across all of your boards, in order by their due date:
This is also helpful for high-level stakeholders who are being asked to approve tasks.

When converting an item to a card, the due date and assigned member will be automatically assigned to the newly created card.

Automate Items With Butler
Just like other actions in Trello, Butler’s automation prowess can be applied to members and due dates in Advanced Checklist items when triggered by rules, card buttons, and due date commands.
For example, if you are a member of a Sales team and use Trello to organize incoming demo requests, you could build a rule that whenever a new card is added to the board:
- A new checklist named “Demo Prep” is added to the card
- A checklist item “Confirm demo date” is added to the checklist
- A member of the team is added to the checklist item
- A due date is added for 2 days in future
